Christmas decorations for the Texas Governor's Mansion

Decorative mantel cover                                 Bienvenidos plastic banner
Kathleen incorporated papel picado into the extensive Christmas decorations planned for the Governor's Mansion in 1999. Projects Trenchard designed and cut: Several multilayered decorative mantlepiece covers in gold and colored tissue. Matching papel picado banners with angels and nativity scenes were strung over the top of the mantlepieces.

An elaborate table covering in cut gold tissue over a layer of red tissue was designed for a prominent drop leaf table. Bandarillas (little flags) in bright cut tissue were used in the spectacular centerpiece of Mexican pastries on the dining table. But most of them were set into garlands and Christmas lights which lined the grand staircase. The Visitors' entrance to the Mansion was highlighted by five large assorted colored plastic banners with the star of Texas, poinsettias and the greeting, "Bienvenidos" cut into them.

Menu covers

In July, 2000, Kathleen cut three different traditional papel picado designs into large bright colored cover stock papers for a large hotel chain. The 250 decorative banner/menus can be hung by the string which holds the cover to the menu.
